Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) is a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, at the shadow theater of the Chat Noir cabaret, shows he improved by creating innovative colored sets. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
