Regarding its condition, there are small tears in the margin (ranging from 0.2 to 1.4 cm), small stains, and ink lines. On the lithograph, we note a smudge in the sky and small stains. The lithograph is very fresh in color; once framed, most defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground engraving, specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a stage director and set designer in 1886 for the shadow theater at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with innovative colored backdrops. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a mark in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted around a thousand watercolors).
