The work is authentic and old. In terms of condition, there are creases in the margin in places, a tear (0.5 cm) on the left, ink lines, and small stains. On the litho, we note small stains and white spots (lack of ink), and a slight waviness at the top. The lithograph is very fresh in color; once framed, most of the defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) is a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then moved on to engraving in soft ground, specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the Théâtre d’ombres at the Chat Noir cabaret, improving performances by creating very innovative colored backdrops. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a name for himself in the history of etching, prints, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
