Lithograph by Henri Rivière The Fairyland of the Hours - The Shower A5817 This lithograph “The Fairyland of the Hours - The Shower” is signed by Henri Rivière and has a red stamp in the bottom left corner. The lithograph is in superb condition, the colors are perfect, and we note for the more meticulous some small ink marks in the margin. Once framed, these defects will be less noticeable. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. Concurrently, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, at the shadow theater of the Chat noir cabaret, improving performances by creating innovative colored sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printing, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
