Lithograph on Chinese paper by Henri Rivière Parisian Landscapes - The Institute and the Cité A5570 This lithograph “Parisian Landscapes - The Institute and the Cité” is signed by Henri Rivière and has a red stamp in the bottom right corner. The work is authentic and old, being a rare print on Chinese paper published and printed by Eugène Verneau. In terms of condition, there are small tears in the margin (ranging from 0.2 cm to 1 cm), small stains and dirt, signs of creasing on the edges, and ink marks. On the litho, we note small stains, a small hole on the left (0.2 cm, and a tear of 2 cm). The lithograph has very fresh colors; once framed, most of the defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) is a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to soft-ground engraving and specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a stage director and set designer in 1886 for the shadow theater at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with the creation of innovative colored backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, woodcut, lithography, and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
