Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) is a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching, specifically starting with etching in 1882. In parallel, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the shadow theater at the Chat noir cabaret, enhancing performances with the creation of very innovative colorful sets. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, prints, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
