Once framed, most defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching, specifically etching in 1882. Meanwhile, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, with shadow theatre at the Chat Noir cabaret, improving performances by creating very innovative colored backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted approximately one thousand watercolors).
