The Order of the Crown (Dutch: Kroonorde) is the second order of the Kingdom of Belgium established on October 15, 1897, by King Leopold II as the sovereign of the Independent State of Congo. The original purpose of this order was to honor heroic deeds and exemplary services rendered in the Congo State. In 1908, it was incorporated into the set of Belgian decorations as a colonial order, positioned under the Order of Leopold.

Description:
Very beautiful piece, large ribbon, bilingual of the Order of the Crown + silver plaque from De Greef, for senior officer. Arthur Belpaire was the first president of the Court of Cassation (1971-74) and likely participated in World War I; one can distinguish in the accompanying photo the ribbon of the Order of Leopold II on his shoulder. Made in the second half of the 20th century, from De Greef, the case is also marked, and several photos were found in the case with the lot. Patina and marks due to time. Very pleasant to hold in hand and even more to observe in a display case. Very rare and 100% original. Named items are very uncommon!!!
