Description

HISTORICAL CONTEXT:

The grip features an angled pommel with a T-shaped groove, its design allows it to fit weapons of the Mauser 93 type. The finely grooved grips are held together by two large rivets that have been carefully ground. The crosspiece is mechanically locked between the tang and the blade by two small rods.

Two types of materials were used:

The 40,000 bayonets produced from 1892-1893 had a brass grip, it has been suggested that those with a "brass grip" be used by "Police" units as well as the "Navy."

Production then transitioned to a lighter grip made of an aluminum alloy with 6% copper, around mid-1893, approximately 190,000 bayonets were manufactured until 1898.

DIMENSIONS:

Total length: 54 cm

Length without the scabbard: 51.8 cm

Grip length: 12 cm
