The Order of the Crown (Dutch: Kroonorde) is the second order of the Kingdom of Belgium established on October 15, 1897, by King Leopold II as the sovereign of the independent State of Congo. The purpose of this order was originally to honor heroic deeds and exemplary services rendered in the State of Congo. In 1908, it was incorporated into the overall Belgian decorations as a colonial order to be placed under the Order of Leopold. The Belgian Order of the Crown, in the rank of officer, is worn on the left chest with a ribbon featuring a rosette.
