Historical context :



The Berthier carabiners and rifles constitute a coherent set of weapons based on the Mannlicher loading mechanism on a Lebel model 1886 base for the French army from 1890 and which participated in the Great War, the Rif War, the Second World War, the Indochina War and the Algerian War.

Superb and beautiful bayonet / short saber called ''Berthier'' for French Berthier rifle. Wooden handle with decoration in the shape of a Catholic cross (?), pretty work of a trench hair (rare). Blade marked on the heel ''B in a diamond'' + ''B C F 16385'' on the scabbard. Shiny blade, in superb condition, with a central gutter! (rare in this condition). Very beautiful piece, very pleasant to hold in the hands and even more pleasant to observe in the window! 100% original!





It is certain that by acquiring this splendid French dagger, you will be in possession of a very rare witness to the military genius of the French army. You will also be in possession of a beautiful blade forged by the best gunsmiths of the time, but also a souvenir of sabers and swords forged in the 19th early 20th century by Châtellerault or Klingenthal.
