Historical context:

Beautiful German saber known as "à la Blucher." In use in the Prussian cavalry and infantry. Based on the 1811 model, which was used from the Napoleonic Wars (notably at Waterloo) until the mid-20th century. This saber was largely inspired by the English model known as "Model 1796," with its typical handguard shape and curved blade, which, it is said, wreaked havoc in the French army.

Length without the scabbard: 102.5 cm

Blade length: 74.2 cm

Grip length: 12 cm

Description:

Here is a magnificent German/Prussian officer's saber, likely dating from WW1. The blade and scabbard are in beautiful condition. The sublime blade is engraved on both sides: drums, weapons, reliefs, floral decorations... The grip is made of ray skin, shagreen, with a double filigree. The scabbard is made of steel with a single hanging ring painted black. A superb piece, very pleasant to hold and even more enjoyable to observe in a display case, 100% original guaranteed!
