Description

Historical context:

Stunning and rare Soviet Russian dagger from the army, model 1955. The Soviet model is inspired by the tsarist naval dagger model 1907. From this date, the dagger is worn only out of service, on a visible belt, with the uniform, without the formal sash, except for the engineer-mechanics who also carry it in parade dress instead of the saber. The dagger will continue to equip the Russian army after the revolution: the army, the navy, and the rarer Soviet aviation dagger. The emperor's monogram is replaced by communist symbols, and reward daggers (gold weapon, St. George, St. Anne) no longer exist. We can only mention a few specimens with a metal plaque engraved and fixed to the scabbard, for the retirement of the officer or as a military gift from the Soviet leaders. For more information, feel free to consult the works of A.N. Kulinski or the weapons gazette No. 146 from October 1985.

DIMENSIONS:

Total length: 35 cm

Length without the scabbard: 31.71 cm

Blade length: 21.3 cm

Handle length: 10.1 cm

Handle width: 1.3 cm

Description:

This superb Russian dagger dates from 1958, stamped during Brezhnev's reign, one of the last Soviet leaders. The blade is triangular, shiny, stamped at the heel of the famous BULAT factory "ZIK 1958 (ZLATOUST 1958)". Handle in orange Bakelite, with its original gilt. The various symbols of the Soviet Union are found on the handle. The closing system is well present and functional! Black leather scabbard with two rings, decorations engraved with the Soviet star as well as the famous clock, symbol of the revolution, located on Red Square. 100% original piece. Recovered from a former Russian military officer in Latvia. A dagger that is very pleasant to hold and beautiful on display!

This is a very rare and original piece in exceptional condition, much rarer than naval daggers!

Don't miss this superb bladed weapon that can easily decorate your showcase or complete your collection of Russian daggers. A beautiful witness to the historic fall of the Soviet Empire and the communist regime in Russia that had been in place since the overthrow of the Romanovs and the October Revolution of 1917!
