The work is authentic and old. In terms of condition, there are small spots and ink marks in the margin, and a size difference between the top and bottom. On the litho, we note small brown and white spots. The lithograph is very fresh in color, and once framed, most of the defects will be barely visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) is a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching and specifically etching in 1882. Concurrently, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 for shadow theater at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances by creating very innovative colored scenery. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving and established his place in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
