The lithograph is very fresh in color; once framed, most defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. In parallel, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the shadow theatre of the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with the creation of colorful, innovative sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a mark in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (having painted around a thousand watercolors).
