In 1855, the saber was slightly modified: the leather sheath was replaced by a sheet steel sheath (except for warrant officers who kept the leather sheath until 1870), and the junior officer's blade was narrowed: it will now take the name of model 1855 saber.

Superb and massive French senior officer's saber model 1855. Beautiful handle with one branch with a guard decorated with floral ornaments with original gilding, in its original condition, no play, very massive and solid, filigree present. Very beautiful blade marked: ''ARM MANUFACTURE AUGUST MARCH 1873 SENIOR OFFICER MODEL 1855''. Superb blade with several grooves, shiny. Markings on the heel clearly present: ''M'' + ''Lonsange''. Iron scabbard with two rings in its juice in superb condition, just a small dent, otherwise in exceptional condition in its juice! Leather tie present. Very beautiful and massive piece in its original condition! Very pleasant to hold in the hands and even more pleasant to observe in the window! ! ! Rare and 100% original!
