The 1822 model sabre is a French cavalry sabre for troops and officers. It was introduced on January 18, 1822, by the cavalry committee, replacing all previous models: An IX, An XI, 1816, and 1817 for light cavalry, and An XI, An XIII, and 1816 for heavy cavalry.

Length without the scabbard: 106 cm
Blade length: 91.5 cm
Grip length: 15 cm

VERY RARE set including a superb & heavy sabre of the French light cavalry model 1822, all original and with the same number (rare). Beautiful non-filigrated grip in its original condition, no play, very massive and solid. Beautiful blade marked at the heel and back: "MANUFACTURE D'ARMES DE CHATELLERAULT 1896 M 1822...". Very nice iron scabbard with one ring, showing stains and marks due to time (needs cleaning). All with the same number "3012" + various other punch marks "M... "! Very beautiful and massive piece in its original condition and in good shape! Very pleasant to hold and even more enjoyable to observe in a display case!!! Rare and 100% original!
