Solingen is known as the "city of blades" because it has been its specialty since the Middle Ages. Even today, 90% of German knives are forged there from vanadium steel. The city is home to a sheet-metal wheel manufacturing plant of the German group mefro wheels, as well as a production unit of the German confectioner Haribo. Last but not least, the famous cutlery brands Zwilling and Wüsthof have their factory and headquarters in Solingen, as does the home appliance company Krups.

A superb German dagger, dating from World War II or towards the end, between 1940-1950. The handle is lined with black leather. The blade is in very good condition, still shiny, with a beautifully crafted back of the blade. The sheath is made of brown leather and is in its original condition. Blade marked at the heel: "SERPENT (EMIL VOOS) + " ROSTFREI". A stunning piece, very pleasant to hold and even more to display in a showcase!
