Historical context :



Victoria married her cousin Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha in 1840. Her reign of 63 years and seven months was the second longest in British history after that of Elizabeth II. Known as the Victorian era, it marks a period of profound social, economic and technological change in the United Kingdom and a rapid expansion of the British Empire. She was the last British monarch of the House of Hanover which ruled the British Isles since 1714, as her son and heir, Edward VII, was of her father's line, the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Superb British officer's sabre/palash from the Victorian era, private export blade. The handle is very solid with a large bronze guard. Blade marked on the heel: ''WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM CO.SOLINGEN''. as well as the marking of ''1 2 corrected to 1 0, 1099, 15" + ''star and other markings on the edge''. The scabbard is made of iron with a ring in its juice, a few minor dents, both small screws at the entrance are absent. Robust leather handle with the filigram still present, no play, very massive and solid saber! The saber fits perfectly into its sheath. This is a magnificent original English saber and in good condition, very unusual. Superb piece, very pleasant to hold in the hands and even more pleasant to observe in the window, 100% original guaranteed!!!
