The H. J. was created during the pre-WW2 period, where social education held a predominant place. Quickly, this youth organization took on a colossal role within German ideology to the extent that at one point it had more than six million members (both male and female). Also, on December 1, 1936, a law made the H. J. a mandatory community for all German youths aged fourteen.
