The 1882 model infantry officer's sabre is a French sabre, adopted in 1882 by the Artillery Service for senior and junior infantry officers. The inspiration for the 1882 model comes from the fancy infantry sabre of the Army of Africa. This model established the system of attaching the scabbard with a single ring, which became a standard: it is the first model of sabre that has only one original ring.

Very beautiful Belgian infantry officer's sabre inspired by the French infantry model 1882, marked FONSON BRUXELLES (very rare), blade nearly like new, featuring a central fuller, fits perfectly in its scabbard, with some minor dents on the scabbard. The grip is made of white metal, lion's head, and wood with its filigree! The brown leather wrist strap is well-present. A superb and very rare piece in its original condition for any discerning collector, passionate about WW1. Very pleasant to hold in hand and even more to observe in a showcase!
