The French Air Force is the oldest air force in the world. The first five squadrons were created in early 1912 and were then part of the French Army. The Air Force became a fully-fledged military service on July 2, 1934.
As of July 1, 2019, 40,800 military personnel and 5,200 civilians serve in its ranks. It totals 170,000 flight hours per year. Its annual budget is 7.5 billion euros in 2020, accounting for 20% of the Ministry of the Armed Forces budget.
It is the 8th air force in the world and the 1st in Western Europe. It also enjoys a long combat experience.

White plastic grip, single block chrome-plated steel blade with two facets, inscribed at the base with the supplier's name "DÉPOSÉE AVIATINOX". Sheath with flat faces made of brass covered with dark black box-calf leather. A superb piece in excellent condition. Very pleasant to hold and even more to observe in a display case!!!
