The Air and Space Army is one of the four components of the French Armed Forces; the other components are the Army, the Navy, and the National Gendarmerie.
The French Air Force is the oldest air force in the world. The first five squadrons were created in early 1912 and were then part of the French Army. The Air Force became a fully-fledged military service on July 2, 1934.
As of July 1, 2019, 40,800 military personnel and 5,200 civilians serve in its ranks. It totals 170,000 flight hours per year. Its annual budget is 7.5 billion euros in 2020, accounting for 20% of the Ministry of Armed Forces budget.
It is the 8th air force in the world and the 1st in Western Europe. It also enjoys extensive combat experience.

White plastic grip, single-piece chrome-plated steel blade with two facets, marked at the heel with the supplier's name "BERAUDY VAURE 160-83". Scabbard with flat sides made of brass covered in dark black box-calf. Superb piece in excellent condition. Very pleasant to hold and even more to observe on display!!!
