Pretty terracotta vase decorated with hand-painted roses on a speckled black background. It is signed "JC" and labeled "J. Chalmandier - 7 cours Gambetta - Tarbes" on the reverse. It is also handwritten "Hollandecor."
This vase with Japonese lines comes from a small Tarbes shop specialized in home decor that, in the 1950s-1960s, had a small workshop for decorating pottery likely imported in bulk from Vallauris workshops or Spain. The pottery arrived blank, while the designs were made by decorator artisans of the shop (here, the owner) with patterns inspired by styles prevalent at that time, such as Holland flowers ("Hollandecor" giving the name to the pattern).
This small vase is thus a memory of an era, a blend of bulk production and local craftsmanship.
In overall good condition, it has some chips in the paint, with no aesthetic damage.
Dimensions: 22 x 10 x 22 cm.
Careful packaging. I answer all your questions regarding the items and their delivery. Feel free to explore my shop Bibelot & Co.
