Description

Elegant oval serving dish in Louis XV style, with a scalloped edge, made of grand feu earthenware from Martres-Tolosane (Haute-Garonne), 19th century.

A heron stands at the center, on a mound of herbs, surrounded by flowering branches and small crosses. A frieze of foliage enhanced with manganese runs along the rim. The entire piece is hand-painted in shades of green on a white cream background, in the manner of Moustiers earthenware.

On the reverse, there is a hand-painted green cross, an unidentified workshop mark.

In very good condition for its age. There are traces of kiln marks on the reverse, evidence of firing, and a few small cooking pits in the glaze. Minor chips and signs of use on the back of the rim, without aesthetic detriment (see photos). No hairline cracks or fractures.

A beautiful dish to use on a table, to hang on the wall, or to combine with other antique earthenware. Not suitable for the dishwasher.

Dimensions: 33 x 3 x 26 cm.

Careful packaging. I answer all your questions regarding the items and their delivery. Feel free to explore my shop Bibelot & Co.
