This pair of low wooden cabinets was likely originally the two lower end elements of an important piece of cabinetmaking, as evidenced by their curved outer sides and straight inner sides.
Today repurposed from their original use, their low height makes them ideal bedside tables to accompany a futon-style bed, or minimalist end tables close to the ground.
The outer structure and drawer fronts are made of solid wood, with a traditional assembly combining doweling and joint-gluing. The back and side panels are made of plywood. Each element retains its original patinated brass handle. Workshop markings in chalk ("III" and "4") are still visible under the cabinets.
The entire piece has been carefully sanded and then protected by a clear varnish that highlights the wood grain while ensuring good surface protection. The wood has a beautiful patina and remains in very good condition.
Please note: the plywood panels, being more sensitive than solid wood parts, show some color variations that appeared during sanding. These shades remain discreet and harmoniously blend with the overall appearance.
One of the drawers also has a slight play in its original assembly; it may require slight guiding upon opening to slide perfectly. This does not affect its sturdiness or functionality.
Sold only as a pair.
Dimensions: 43 x 16.5 x 35 cm.
Careful packaging. I answer all your questions regarding the objects and their delivery. Feel free to explore my store Bibelot & Co.
