They represent ancient heads of men with long beards. These andirons are neoclassical, beautifully crafted and finely carved. This pair of andirons has a bar in the middle, this bar slides underneath. The carving is fine and the patina is sumptuous. The andirons are fine quality. As for the condition, these andirons are in superb state of conservation, note some traces of classic wear on the gilding and small traces of oxidation.
