Very beautiful biscuit jar, late Art Nouveau/Art Deco style in cut crystal, antique from the late 19th - early 20th century, Bohemian crystal or Val St Lambert factory, unsigned. Tall, bulbous shape, the top of the jar is smooth, while the bottom is cut with geometric patterns, diamonds, stars... A gilded metal rim at the top, probably brass, decorated with a fine frieze of small leaves, 2 ornaments on either side, stylized shell visibly in tin. Lid in repoussé copper, featuring radiating gadroons and a small central button in silver-plated metal, with floral geometric decoration. 17cm maximum height with lid, 15cm without, 14-15cm maximum diameter at the widest point, 11cm diameter at the neck. Very good overall condition considering its age, a few micro-chips on the edges of the cut crystal, very discreet, scratches under the base, natural and not bothersome. The inside of the lid is deformed, not bothersome, the metal looks clean but worn on the lid, probably not the original lid but nice. Hinges shaped like broken shells at the top related to a likely lid exchange. Nonetheless, a beautiful decorative object. Approximately 700-800g.
