The Parachute Regiment, commonly referred to as the Paras, is an airborne infantry regiment of the British Army considered one of the best elite units in the world. The first battalion is permanently under the command of the Special Forces. The other battalions are part of the British Army's rapid response component. The Paras are the only infantry unit that has not been merged with another unit since the end of World War II.
