Antique Biedermeier mirror veneered in cherry wood, Southern Germany, circa 1830. Restored by adding missing pieces to both sides of the cornice and the right side of the base, all refinished and hand-polished with shellac. The rest has been kept in its patina: a gap under the mirror's base, slight delaminations of the mounting on the top and bottom sides, without significant damage. Period mirror with a lot of patina, but as charming as an ancient manuscript: this silvering, speckled with meanders in its hollow, evokes the mysteries of a parchment... One admires the finesse of its narrow lines, which fit perfectly into small spaces.
