Sumptuous and rare pencil case, case or box, in vintage or antique black lacquered wood, probably of Korean origin, covered with abalone mother-of-pearl marquetry in blue-grey tones with rainbow reflections, fully marqueted exterior, lower part also marqueted on the inside. There are no words to describe the beauty of the mother-of-pearl. Fine craftsmanship. Elongated rectangular shape, lid placed on top. Maximum length 24.5cm, maximum width 7.5cm, maximum height 3.5cm. Very good overall condition, wear on 3 corners of the lid with missing mother-of-pearl and slightly worn visible wood, quite discreet however. A few small scratches and possible other discreet signs of wear. 4 small plastic cushions under the base probably added after manufacture. 300g.
