Historical context:
Sétif is a city in northeastern Algeria and the capital of the wilaya of Sétif. It is one of the most important cities in Algeria; it is often considered the commercial capital of the country. Located in the south of the region of Little Kabylia, 252 km east-southeast of Algiers, 70 km east-northeast of Bordj Bou Arreridj, 283 km west-southwest of Annaba and 127 km west of Constantine, the city peaks at an altitude of 1,100 m. Under the name of Sitifis, the city was part of the Berber kingdom of Numidia during Antiquity, then it became the capital of Mauretania Sétifienne under the Roman Empire, before passing under Arab-Muslim control in the 7th century.
