Description

Historical context :

Prussia was originally a territory in north-eastern Europe partly Germanized under the control of the Teutonic Knights, but located outside the Holy Roman Empire. Prussia became the possession of a branch of the Hohenzollerns in the 16th century, then it was united with the electorate of Brandenburg (the Berlin region) in the 17th century. From 1701 to 1871, Prussia constituted an essential element of the Kingdom of Prussia, incorporated into the German Empire in 1871 (2nd German Reich). In this context, original Prussia corresponds to the province of East Prussia, particularly after the First World War, when it found itself isolated from the rest of Germany.
