Pair of bronze bowls with an antique decoration, featuring mythological subjects.
The one on the left is adorned with the Triumph of Virtue, while the one on the right features Neptune and Amphitrite, echoing the subject of the Neptune basin at the Château de Versailles.
The rarity comes from finding the complete pair, as the Triumph of Virtue can sometimes be found individually. The Neptune and Amphitrite decoration is particularly rare. Finding both bowls in the same size is nearly impossible! But I offer you this opportunity with this pair.
They date from the Second Empire period.
They are in excellent condition. No chips, warping, or corrosion; the patina has been preserved, which is rare. I just want to point out a darkening stain of dirt of about 1.9 cm in diameter, probably from food residue, visible at the center of the left bowl, see photo 4. There is certainly a way to remove it without affecting the patina.
The decoration on the feet and pedestals is very detailed (photos 13 to 18), featuring ram heads, goddesses (Leda), and heroes.
The decoration of mythological scenes is also magnificent (photos 3 to 12); it's a beautiful work by the bronze craftsman.
Each bowl weighs approximately 1150 grams.
The height is 15.3 cm, and the diameter of the plates is 18 cm.
Shipping is very well protected by Mondial Relay for €10, or by insured Colissimo to your home for €19.
