After a few months at the Lausanne School of Drawing, he went to Paris at the end of 1930 and attended various painting academies until 1933 ( Colarossi, Ranson, Grande Chaumière). In 1934, he was in the workshop of Maurice Denis. He interspersed his Parisian training with study stays in Rome, Florence and Venice. From 1940 to 1945, he was in Geneva. At the end of the war, he returned to Paris. From 1952, he lived six months a year in Gordes (Vaucluse), which he only left to settle in the Château de Tertre in Normandy, property of Roger Martin du Gard. First seduced by Cubism and the theories of Severini that he encountered, he evolved towards a pictorial art where the color values alone must, without reference to nature, give life to the painting. He died on September 2, 1991 in Sérigny-Bellême (Normandy).
