This 19th-century watercolor presents a landscape of mountains that is both wild and picturesque, where nature dominates a charming architecture. The composition revolves around a winding dirt path on which a figure walks, leading the gaze towards an imposing building with a square tower. In the background, a second, more discreet structure is nestled in the recess of the valley, enhancing the depth of the scene. Like the previous one, this work benefits from a rare quality framing: the frame, composed of multiple fillets, is entirely hand-drawn directly on the support. This precise work, with an incredible regularity, attests to the extreme care given to the enhancement of the image at the time. The watercolor itself is in very good condition, retaining all the freshness of its green and ochre tones. The support paper shows an authentic patina with some signs of age: slight creases, a small tear in one corner, and a very slight indentation in the paper, a discreet relief that does not alter the integrity or aesthetics of the whole.
