Polychrome faience cornucopia vase from Nevers, signed Antoine Montagnon, illustrating the great Nivernese tradition of decoration with the cornucopia.

The flared trumpet neck, widely open, rests on a bulging belly highlighted by a twisted knot with yellow and black fluting, all on a matching circular foot. The decoration, with great finesse in execution, unfolds in polylobed reserves populated by stylized acanthus scrolls and foliage, in the famous "lambrequin" style that has been cherished by the faience factories of Nevers since the 17th century.

The palette, rich and contrasting, combines deep cobalt blue, antimony yellow, copper green, orange, and white, enhanced with motifs of mascarons (small faces) nestled in the interlacing.

The neck is bordered by a frieze of black scrolls on a yellow background, under a midnight blue lip. Dimensions: height 45.5 cm — diameter at neck 26.5 cm. Condition: overall good condition, noting 2 small chips at the base (visible in the photo). Signature: Antoine Montagnon, faience factory of Nevers.
