Modernist ceramic vase, made by the ceramicist Max Idlas in Paris (Montmartre workshop) between the 1950s and 1960s. The piece is numbered 32 under the base.

The flattened body rests on a thick, massive base that elegantly narrows into a foot. The object is shaped as a unique piece and fired at high temperature to achieve a red "blood of beef" glaze, a nuanced Bordeaux, deep, luminous, and enhanced with black, whose shades change according to light exposure. A particularly rare and sought-after color variation in the artist's work.

Dimensions: Height 18 cm, width 20 cm, thickness 8 cm

Signature: Engraved under the base "Idlas" and numbered 32, generally corresponding to the model number of the piece.

Condition: Very good overall condition for a vintage piece. To note transparently: a fine superficial scratch of no consequence on the body and, at the neck, slight manufacturing roughness characteristic of the reactions of metallic oxides and high-temperature firing. See photos.
