The work is authentic and old. Concerning its condition, there are small tears (0.2 cm) in the margin, small ink lines and spots, and slight creasing marks. On the lithograph, we note some small spots. The lithograph's colors are very fresh, and once framed, most imperfections will be barely visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to soft-ground etching and specifically to etching in 1882. In parallel, he started a career as a stage director and scenographer in 1886, creating shadow plays at the Chat Noir cabaret, improving performances by creating very innovative colorful sets. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing his place in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
