Lithograph by Henri Rivière Au Vent de Noroît - Les Vieux A5824 This lithograph “Au Vent de Noroît - Les Vieux” is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the lower left corner. The lithograph is in perfect condition; for the more meticulous, we note small ink marks in the lower left margin and minimal tears at the bottom. Once framed, most of the flaws will be less noticeable. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then moved to soft-ground etching and specifically etching in 1882. Concurrently, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the shadow theater at the Chat Noir cabaret, improving performances by creating very innovative colored backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a mark in the history of etching, prints, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor (he painted about a thousand watercolors).
