Description
Large dish for use or wall decor in glazed earthenware, with incised decoration of fish and seaweed. Sgraffito work (incisions in the material to reveal the underlying color) with cloisonné glazes, typical of decorative arts from this period, and gilded highlights on the contours and patterns. Powdery salmon pink textured background with black and gold patterns, influenced by "Retro" or "Mid-Century Modern" style.
Signed in relief on the back "Tony Jaillet Chalon S/S - Handmade." Famous ceramist from Chalon-sur-Saône (1950-1960 period) known for his work with glazed earthenware.
Wall-hanging feature present.
