Henry Ducloux (1860-1930) “Tea Time”, 1882 Oil on canvas – Signed and dated Elegant late 19th-century French still life depicting a refined tea setting. At the center stands a silver teapot crowned with an eagle finial, resting on a golden pleated tablecloth. Beside it are a finely decorated porcelain cup with spoon, a sugar pot with silver tongs, and in the background a glass bottle labeled “Rhum”. The artist masterfully captures the contrast of materials: polished silver, delicate porcelain, luminous fabric and transparent glass. The subtle lighting and deep tonal background create a warm and precious atmosphere. Signed lower right: H. He produced impressionist landscapes in southern France as well as refined still lifes.
