Sculptor and painter, Élysée Cavaillon was born in 1873 in Nîmes. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he exhibited in 1903 and 1925 at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts, the Autumn Salon, and the Tuileries Salon. He was part of the Schnegg group, which included sculptors Despiau, Wlérick, Pompon, Pouplet, and Malfray, and exhibited with them in 1904 and 1921. At the International Exhibition of 1937, he presented a large bas-relief. It is a gouache drawing on paper that was mounted on canvas.
