Description
Sculptor and painter, Élysée Cavaillon was born in 1873 in Nîmes. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he exhibited in 1903 and 1925 at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, the Salon d'Automne, and the Salon des Tuileries. He was part of the Schnegg group, which included sculptors Despiau, Wlérick, Pompon, Pouplet, Malfray, and he exhibited with them in 1904 and 1921. At the International Exhibition of 1937, he presented a large bas-relief. It is a gouache drawing on paper that has been marouflé onto a canvas.
