Description

Large and imposing double arched entrance door in solid oak, with in the upper part 2 pairs of opening glazed leaves.
The set measures 248.5cm high by 144.5cm wide in total (73.5cm + 71 (73 with the rebate)). 18th century style, it dates from the 19th century.
Massive and solid, this door features oak painted beige-yellow on the outside and yellow on the inside. It has been completely cleaned. The whole oak is solid, marks of use and time are clearly visible mainly on the exterior facade at the junction between the 2 doors and in the lower part.
The first two photos are the exterior face and the interior face with the leaves open.
The facade has a base and has three frames with oily mouldings. The top has 2 wrought iron grilles for each leaf, one on the first rectangular glazed part, and one adapted to the upper curved part, they are painted black. These grids are in perfect condition.
The glass panels are original, they are covered with a print to hide the interior, they open from the inside, by two small latches for the two large windows, and by a latch for the curved glazing from the top thus allowing ventilation or conversation in complete safety. These latches are brass, the button of the top left one is missing.
The old glasses, with characteristic reflections, all have the same print, marked by time, which has gaps and defects, and two of the glasses are broken: the two large rectangular ones, on one it is a slit at the top in the angle and on the other it is a bottom angle (well photographed).
This door is fitted with a pair of sculpted bronze handles, embellished with a rosette on the front, and a lock that was reported later with a key that works.
The right leaf (seen from the inside) has an imposing cremone bolt with key, whose handle and supports are decorated, it allows the blocking of this leaf in the upper and lower part. This cremone bolt bears the initials RG, under the entry of the key (absent), which are those of the Rémi Garnier house, created in 1832, and still in activity.
This double door is impressive, very well made, it will clearly need a refresh, and the result is likely to be spectacular!
With its bold moldings, its 4 panels with their iron grilles, the fact that they are openable, its Rémi Garnier cremone bolt, its lock, this double door forms a very well proportioned set, and of high quality!
Weight: 2 times 65kg or 130kg in total.
Dimensions: 248.5cm high (230cm before rounding), 144.5cm wide, 4.5cm thick (and almost 8cm including moldings)
