Charming old engraving after Carle (Charles) Vernet (1758–1836) titled The Race, depicting a lively and energetic horse racing scene. This print, engraved by Darcis sculp., was published in Paris by Charles Bouce, 10 J.-J. Rousseau street, probably around 1820–1830. Carle Vernet, son of the painter Joseph Vernet and father of Horace Vernet, is one of the most famous French artists for his representations of horses, races, and military scenes.
