Watercolor on paper, bourgeois interior scene by E. Picou, 19th century, A5687. This 19th-century interior scene is beautifully crafted and was created by E. Picou. There are signs of wear on the frame, damp spots in the margin, and the watercolor is in good condition. E. Picou refers to Eugènes Charles Picou, a painter born in 1831 in Nantes, inspired by the works of Alexandre Cabanel and also influenced by Jean-Léon Gérome in the creation of his style. His brother Henri-Pierre Picou won the 2nd Prize of Rome in 1853, and his master Debret was a pupil of Jacques-Louis David. He had a slight renown during his lifetime at the Salon of French Artists.
