Sculptor and painter, Élysée Cavaillon was born in 1873 in Nîmes. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he exhibited in 1903 and 1925 at the Salon de la société nationale des Beaux-Arts, at the Salon d'Automne and at the Salon des Tuileries. He was part of the Schnegg gang made up in particular of the sculptors Despiau, Wlérick, Pompon, Pouplet, Malfray and exhibited with them in 1904 and 1921. At the International Exhibition of 1937, he presented a large bas-relief.
