It has its original patina, a double-tiered black marble. It does not bear a signature, but there is no doubt that it is Max Le Verrier. This subject is part of the Max Le Verrier collection of the "Athletes of Le Faguays" catalog reference N 912Louis Octave Maxime Le Verrier, more commonly known as Max Le Verrier, also known by the pseudonym of Artus was a French sculptor. He was known to be a pioneer of the Parisian Art Deco movement, creating decorative art objects often in bronze as well as historical sculptures. Pierre Camille Marie le Faguays, born in Rezé on August 29, 18921 and died on September 8, 1962 in the 14th arrondissement of Paris2, is a French sculptor in the Art Deco style.
