Description

Art Nouveau vase in glazed flamed stoneware — Pierrefonds. This elongated and sinuous shaped piece is characteristic of Art Nouveau, made of glazed stoneware from the Faïencerie Héraldique de Pierrefonds (Oise, founded in 1903 by Count Hallez d'Arros). The trumpet neck, highlighted with relief ribs forming a stylized almond-shaped vegetative motif (in the spirit of a "whip crack"), flares upwards in an asymmetrical corolla.

It extends into a curved shaft that widens into a crescent-shaped, openwork base, punctuated by circular holes — a system that allows for the stems of a bouquet to stand upright while keeping the water in the neck. The glaze features the typical color gradation of Pierrefonds production: a satin bronze/ochre background at the top, transitioning to deep blue drips and speckles on the neck and the base, with the iridescence and slight crystallizations characteristic of this manufactory. Height 43 cm Width 16.5 cm Depth 12.3 cm. There are some losses of glaze at the neck and on the foot.
